Plaza De La Paz
Strategically located at the centre of the city of the city of Barranquilla Plaza de la Paz a huge open public square. The square was mainly constructed to accommodate the huge crowd who came to see Pope John Paul II on his Columbian visit in 1986. Other than that the Plaza is a regular favourite for festivities, celebration and sometimes protest too. The cathedral of Barranquilla stands at the north eastern end of it.
The original project contemplated that the square was located between 45 and 53, 45 and 46, but at the end of the 1980s, the Banco de la República built its new headquarters in the city in the block between 45 and 47 races 45 and 46.
